Default Printer and Server Host</a></h1>
<p>Options used:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p><tt class="LITERAL">default_remotehost=</tt><span class=
"emphasis"><i class="EMPHASIS">default rm (remote
host)</i></span></p>
</li>
<li>
<p><tt class="LITERAL">default_printer=</tt><span class=
"emphasis"><i class="EMPHASIS">default rp (remote
printer)</i></span></p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>If the preceding steps do not yield a printer name and the
<tt class="LITERAL">require_explicit_q</tt> flag is not set
then the <tt class="LITERAL">default_printer</tt> and
<tt class="LITERAL">default_remote_host</tt> values from the
<tt class="FILENAME">lpd.conf</tt> configuration file will be
used. If there is no configuration file, then the compile time
defaults will be used.</p>
<p>Using the fallback values is usually not a desirable event
and may indicate that you have a misconfigured host, so the
compile time defaults are usually set to <tt class=
"LITERAL">missingprinter@localhost</tt> to provide an annoying
message for users.</p>
