OnTV is a GNOME Applet written in Python using PyGTK. It uses XMLTV files to
monitor current and upcoming TV programs.
OnTV is distributed using the GNU General Public License.
For installation instructions, please see the INSTALL.

Installing OnTV
===============
Installing OnTV should only be a matter of:
1. ./configure --prefix=/usr
2. make
3. make install (as root)
4. Restart bonobo-activation-server
(killall bonobo-activation-server; killall gnome-panel)
NOTE: If you install with a prefix other than /usr you'll need to set
$BONOBO_ACTIVATION_PATH (preferably in ~/.xinitrc) so that the panel can find
the applet:
export BONOBO_ACTIVATION_PATH=PREFIX/lib/bonobo/servers
You should now be able to add OnTV to your panel by clicking "Add to panel...",
or run it in the notification area by starting the ontv binary
Running OnTV
============
To run OnTV you currently need two things:
1. A grabber to download your channels listings in the XMLTV file format.
2. A utility to add any missing stop times in the XMLTV file.
Both these utilities are availible in XMLTV which most distributions has
packaged. For source code and more information on XMLTV, see it's homepage at
http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/
First download the listings with the grabber:
$ tv_grab_XX --output=listings.xml
(where XX is your country code)
Finally, run the tv_sort util on the listings:
$ tv_sort --output=listings.xml listings.xml
Hint: It might be a good idea to put these commands in a cron job.
You should now be all set to start OnTV and select listings.xml in the
preferences dialog.
