BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file distribution protocol for distributing large
amounts of data without centralized control. There are several BitTorrent
clients available for use in <span>Kubuntu</span>; <span class="application">KTorrent</span> is
the default application. Other open source BitTorrent clients include:
<span class="application">Azureus</span>, <span class="application">BitTornado</span>, and
<span class="application">BitTorrent</span> itself. Java-based
<span class="application">Azureus</span> is one of the more popular BitTorrent
clients.

specifically for KDE. Loaded with features, <span class="application">KTorrent</span>
is a well-designed application that is light on the system and fast
on the Internet. To use <span class="application">KTorrent</span>, simply download a
<code class="filename">.torrent</code> file. <span class="application">KTorrent</span> will
automatically recognize the file and start the download. Using
<span class="application">KTorrent</span> is simple and straightforward.
