Chatting with friends and family is a popular use of the Internet, and <span>Kubuntu</span>
provides the necessary applications. There are two main chat clients in
<span>Kubuntu</span>, <span class="application">Kopete</span> for instant messaging and
<span class="application">Quassel</span> for chatting on <acronym class="acronym">IRC</acronym>
(Internet Relay Chat).

popular <acronym class="acronym">IM</acronym> clients. With <span class="application">Kopete</span>,
accounts can be set up for:

use. Quassel includes tabbed browsing and notification of messages and other
events.
