The <span class="application">SeaMonkey</span> project is a community effort to
develop the <span class="application">SeaMonkey</span> all-in-one internet
application suite. Such a software suite was previously made popular by
<span class="trademark">Netscape</span>™ and <span class="trademark">Mozilla</span>™, and the
<span class="application">SeaMonkey</span> project continues to develop and deliver
high-quality updates to this concept. It includes an internet browser, email
& newsgroup client, with an included web feed reader, HTML editor, IRC
chat, and web development tools. On March 13, 2012, version 2.8 was released.

Powered by <span class="trademark">Mozilla</span>™ under the hood,
<span class="application">SeaMonkey</span> uses much of the same
<span class="trademark">Mozilla</span>™ source code which powers such successful
siblings as <span class="trademark">Firefox</span>™, <span class="trademark">Thunderbird</span>™,
<span class="trademark">Camino</span>™, <span class="trademark">Sunbird</span>™ and
<span class="trademark">Miro</span>™. Legal backing is provided by the
<span class="trademark">Mozilla Foundation</span>™. The code is licensed under a <a class="ulink" href="http://www.mozilla.org/MPL/" target="_top"><span class="trademark">MPL</span>™</a>/
<span class="trademark">GPL</span>™/<span class="trademark">LGPL</span>™ tri-license, allowing it
to be easily reused in different environments. If your internet activity
consists of just browsing, emailing, using <acronym class="acronym">IRC</acronym>, reading web
feeds, and doing some light <acronym class="acronym">HTML</acronym> editing, then this
application fills all your needs.
