<span class="application">Padre</span> is a text editor that is simple to use for new
<span class="trademark">Perl</span>™ programmers, but also supports large multi-lingual
and multi-technology projects. Its primary focus is to create a peerless
environment for learning <span class="trademark">Perl</span>™ and creating
<span class="trademark">Perl</span>™ scripts, modules, and distributions, with an
extensible plug-in system to support the addition of related functionality and
languages, and to support advanced developers taking the editor anywhere they
want it to go. It runs on <span class="trademark">Microsoft Windows</span>™,
<span class="trademark">Linux</span>™, <span class="trademark">FreeBSD</span>™,
<span class="trademark">Mac OS X</span>™, and <span class="trademark">NetBSD</span>™ and is under
the <span class="trademark">GPL</span>™ and the <a class="ulink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perl_license" target="_top">Artistic licenses</a>.
<span class="trademark">Perl</span>™ is often used as a binder between disparate
components in an application or project and is noted for being easy to write,
but difficult to read. <span class="application">Padre</span> has all the features
one would expect in a well-supported <acronym class="acronym">IDE</acronym>. It was written
using <span class="trademark">Perl5</span>™.
