  <title>Layout creation and customisation</title>

  <section id="introduction">
    <title>Introduction</title>
    <p>A layout in <app>Onboard</app> defines the shape, the position and the function of the different keys on the <app>Onboard</app> on-screen keyboard.</p>
    <p> It does not define how the key will look; for example it does not specify the colour of the key, whether it is flat or rounded,...</p>
    <p>A layout consists of one xml file with the .onboard extension and one or more svg files. The xml file defines what keys are on the layout and the function of each key. The svg files define the shape and the position of each key on the on-screen keyboard.</p>
    <p>When creating a new layout, it might be good to start with copying an already existing layout instead of stating from scratch.</p>
